Oil on Canvas
This painting entitled “Generations,” is all about connecting two different shapes, in this case, the two separate canvases, to make one cohesive painting. During the process of creating this painting, my goal was to create similar shapes, colors and lines that could be used freely in the composition, on either canvas; but at the end of the day, could draw the two closer together in cohesion. Does this sound like a relationship, anyone? The paintings can stand alone, yet, were created for one another, and like many people I know, are better together.

LIBER VERITATIS
During the Painting of this Series:
This year has seen a move to the Apache Reservation in Arizona, serious boxing practice, eating meat again, living with six people in a two-bedroom house, a move back to Fresno and living alone, working full-time at a public high school in Fresno, the beginning and end of a relationship, a switch from car to bike, getting into the MFA program at Claremont, trusting in the Lord, and painting—and trying to hold onto the reins of this wild chariot ride called art practice.

This is a painting I created for Anne Z of New York.

“Civilization” Oil, wax on canvas 36″ x 36″ ($1,300)
I spent a whole summer in Costa Rica, and there I made several small paintings on paper, which I will be showing on November 8th in Malibu, and have been in the studio wrapping up paintings that I started before my trip. I prefer to work on five or six canvases at once; I like being able to put one down and pick one up whenever I need a change. I have quite a few works-in-progress in the studio which will be popping up for sale in the next month. Please enjoy these new ones which I have just posted to the Fall 2008 page! To arrange a studio visit, or to buy a painting, please refer to my contact page!
Thanks,
Dominique
